Quantitative
This is the math section. 62 minutes for 31 adaptive questions. That means that you'll start with a mid-level question and the difficulty of each successive question depends (in part) on how you did on the previous one. Get a question right and you get a harder question, which is worth more than if you'd gotten the previous question wrong and then were given an easier question that you answered correctly. There's no going back to change an answer. It's useful to understand this format, but it's crucial to master the limited arithmetic, algebra, and geometry rules and concepts that reliably show up on the exam. And it's essential that you become expert in the Data Sufficiency questions that give so many students trouble. But not you! — we'll make sure of that.
Verbal
There are three types of questions on the Verbal section.
All are adaptive (see Quantitative above).
Integrated Reasoning
This section consists of four types of questions — Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, and Two-Part Analysis. — that test a combination of math verbal, and graphic comprehension skills. We've found that these questions are best studied individually, without a tutor. We can, however, point you towards some high-quality practice material, and if you'd like to review any of it with us, no problem.
Analytical Writing Assessment
This is the essay section. The first thing to understand is that you are not being asked for your "take" on an issue. You're being asked to analyze an argument. It's much like the Critical Reasoning question in the Verbal section. All logical arguments on the GMAT are structured the same way, so preparing for this essay is a fairly straightforward process. We'll also make sure that you are equipped with the tried and true strategies that make for coherent, engaging writing.
